Out of the 8.7 million forms of life living on this earth, the human being is the most
intelligent species. This is the only specie whose decisions and actions leave an impact
on the commonwealth of all the life forms which we are sharing on this planet. Human is
in a dominating position over and above all the species, and that’s why we have greater
responsibility and privilege to care for all other beings and the ecosystem. In this
process of development and growth, this responsibility to take care of all the co-
habitants of mother earth becomes imperative for the existence and survival of human
beings. The healthy relationship among the whole chain of life forms is the key to the
survival of life on Earth. If this definite configuration of the relationship is disturbed, all
the forms of life will come in danger zone.
Let’s try to understand this way that life on Earth exists in a special relationship to the
atmosphere without which it can’t exist. The atmosphere again contains gases arranged
in a particular relationship. Water, a necessity for life is nothing but a relationship
between hydrogen and oxygen. The trees, plants, and the food that we eat are all a
combination of more than twenty plus elements with carbon in different proportions. So,
for anything to survive on this planet, there must be an ideal combination or RIGHT
RELATIONSHIP of two or more permutations and combinations.
The right relationship offers a guidance system for functioning in harmony with scientific
reality and enduring ethical traditions. A thing is right when it tends to preserve the
integrity, stability, and beauty of the biotic community. But today it’s not happening.
Exploitation at all levels has become the basis of our development and growth. Whether
it is with the environment, other species, or even among human beings, this relationship
is at its lowest ebb.

Today all the developmental activities from commutation to communications, and
consumption to consumerism have embraced pathological gigantism, increasing
corporate consolidation and ruthlessly crushing the small business players as well as
the natural systems on which all the economic activities depend. The signs of drastic
and damaging consequences are appearing on the surface. Climate change, soil
erosion, water pollution, air pollution, overpopulation, increasing the speed of other
species extinction, imperiled coral reef, unstoppable invasive species, viruses like
coronavirus causing pestilence, toxic chemicals that remain for eons in the environment,
persistent human poverty and hunger and an increasingly inflated unstable world
financial system and globalizing economy controlled by a dry few.
