The Faridabad Municipal Corporation (MC) has withheld the payment of Rs 10 crore to a company which has been outsourced the work of garbage disposal. This is for the second time this year that the payment has been stopped. The company has been served an ultimatum to improve its work to get the payment released. An amount of Rs 1.75 crore per month is paid to the company.

In the notice to Ecogreen, the company given the contract of solid waste management since November 2017, the MC has expressed dissatisfaction over the ongoing work in the city.
At a meeting held with senior officials of the company on Friday, MC Commissioner Anita Yadav said the company’s performance had been poor and needed drastic improvement in order to continue the contract. MC Chief Engineer DR Bhaskar said that the company had promised to get the lacunae removed within a week and the officials concerned had been told that the contract was liable to be terminated if the work was not up to the required standards.

He said that it was the second time in the past six months that the contract fee had been stopped. A payment of Rs 13 crore was withheld in January. Payment had also been stopped temporarily in August 2018.
Bhaskar said that several notices had been served on the company and the Urban Local Bodies Department would take the final decision regarding the contract.
The MC has also sought a report from Ecogreen regarding work on the Rs 300-crore garbage power plant set to come up in 2020 at Bandhwari village.
