Who doesn’t want to eat healthy and stay healthy throughout their life? Staying fit is probably the dream of 65% of people living on this planet. It is really not difficult if we keep a check on our eating habits. Food keeps us healthy and it is important to understand what we eat.(ORGANIC)
Let’s get some basic knowledge about organic. What is organic exactly? Organic is the process of growing agricultural products without the use of harmful chemicals.
In today’s world, everybody is familiar with the process of farming. Farmers, to increase the yield, add chemical fertilizers which are not good for the human body. This is how even seasonal fruits and vegetables are sometimes available almost throughout the year. This method of farming means all the things we are eating are loaded with synthetic and harmful chemicals resulting in hormonal issues, digestive problems, and even cancers.
America has seen a rise of 11% in the sales of organic products in 2-3 years. According to research done on the rate of antioxidants present in organic products, it is proved that they range around 60% in organic products than in non-organic products. “The crucially important thing about this research is that it shatters the myth that how we farm does not affect the quality of the food we eat,” said Helen Browning, chief executive of Soil Association, which campaigns for organic farming
Organic farming is done without the use of chemicals. All kinds of harmful products like synthetic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers, or bioengineered genes are avoided while farming. Organic farming is done with various methods such as crop rotation, organic fertilizers, animal manure, and natural pesticides, etc. These are the authentic ways to keep the soil fertile. If the soil is fertile, then there is no need to add chemical fertilizers to it, and hence the plants grown in the soil are organic.

Why we should eat organic-
1.Organic products do not use chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Farming is done using various methods that do not force the products to fertilize quickly. That’s the reason why it is healthy.
2.Maintaining organic farming controls and keeps a check on biodiversity. Chemicals spoil the ecosystem completely. Organic farming can play a big role in the conservation of biodiversity.
3.Organic food does not have hydrogenated fats in them which non-organic food has. Hydrogenated fats affect human health and can cause heart problems.
4.Organic foods contain various nutrients like Vitamin C, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, and lower nitrate rate.
5.When it comes to dairy products like meat, conventional producers use every kind of antibiotic and drug to increase the yield ignoring the health of the consumers. The substances used are harmful to the body, especially for pregnant women. The pesticides and antibiotics are found in 70% of meat, which increases the risk of cancer cells.
Though at present the cost of organic products is higher than non-organic products owing to various reasons like lower initial yield for 2-3 years when a farmer converts to organic farming and supply chain issues. But start-ups and other organizations are coming up to tackle the issues. But if we start demanding organic, farmers will go for organic, which will mean increased production and lesser prices eventually. The use of organic foods in India is comparatively less than in other countries. People are not aware of what organic is exactly, that’s the reason why it has not reached all parts of the country An average family spends around 5-15% on dining out and entertainment. If they try to increase their expenditure up to 2% to spend on organic products, they can ensure not only good health for their family but will play a role in saving the soil and environment.
