With the ever-increasing population and their needs and necessities, the waste produced increases a great deal. Many solutions to this problem were discussed and put into action. Certain ideas like recycling can only be done on a small scale and can be done with only certain types of materials. In the end, a few ideas were put forward among which 10 are discussed here.

Plastic Roads- One of the main components of waste nowadays is plastic. Plastic is a non-biodegradable material and it can cause harm to us and to all other organisms if it is not disposed of properly. Fly larvae for organic waste- Yes, you heard right. Fly larvae may sound very disturbing but once you consider the benefits, you might even get on board with the idea. We may think that organic waste will not harm the environment as it is biodegradable. But it was proved that organic waste dumped in landfills is one of the major sources of greenhouse gas emission. If we allow the black fly larvae to eat the waste, they can consume twice their body weight. The larvae, after feeding, will become plump and can be fed to chickens or other animals, and hence can be disposed of easily.

Build with Glass- Glass is another form of waste that is produced in huge amounts and cannot be recycled on a large scale. A smart way to recycle this glass would be to build with it. Houses, apartments, offices, and so on, can be constructed with glass. It gives us a view of the world around us and doesn’t make us feel confined. It makes the room look bigger and more ambient. It is not necessary that all the rooms be made of glass as we all need our privacy. But certain rooms like the living room can be constructed with glass.

Waste into energy- Using organic waste, we can make compost as well as biofuel. This fuel can be used to power up our homes or even for cooking fuel. On a large scale, this organic waste can be converted into energy and can power up towns and even cities. Instead of dumping all of our waste into landfills and causing a huge stink all over the world, we can make useful energy out of it.
Recycling cigarettes- Not only are cigarettes bad for our body, but it is also one of the main causes of pollution. With more and more people smoking, there are more and more cigarette butts on the ground, polluting the environment. This can cause serious damage to stray animals if they accidentally swallow it. In order to solve this problem, countries spend millions in order to clean up the cigarette butts on the floor. These cigarette butts can be recycled and made into plastic pellets for use again.

Electronics recycling- Throwing away our old electronic items may seem pretty harmless, but what we don’t realize is that even electronic items that don’t work anymore can leak harmful heavy metals into the atmosphere and pollute it. By recycling these electronic items, we can reduce the amount of lead or mercury that the appliances leak into the environment. Fungus for Nuclear waste clean-up- One way or another, there will be the leakage of nuclear waste into the environment and we have to find a way to either stop it or at least control the leak. If nuclear waste isn’t properly disposed of, it can lead to problems, and using humans for the clean-up is also not a good idea as it can harm them. Composting our bodies- What happens when we die? According to our religions and traditions, we can be buried in a coffin or even cremated. There is another option. Our bodies are high in nutrients and they can be composed and used as fertilizers. It may sound a bit unsettling at first, but when you think about it, it is a brilliant way to leave our positive footprints on the earth. Human remains can be converted into the soil which can give rise to new healthy plants or trees. In no way is it a means of disrespect, but when the rise in the number of deaths, not everyone can be buried in the ground as it takes too much space and the degrading bodies emit a huge amount of carbon dioxide into the air. This is just an option and it is entirely up to and individuals on how they want to dispose of their bodies when they die.
