A lioness is enjoying the meal she just killed and brought back to her cubs to eat. However, she’s not the only one that wants to enjoy her big kill. A crocodile, in the video below, is slowly inching his way into where the lioness and cubs are eating.
While protecting her meal is essential, the lioness’ first concern is her cubs. She immediately starts to gaze around to ensure that the crocodile came alone. While the crocodile alone is not much of a threat to her, he is to her cubs, and multiple crocodiles would mean a fight.
After looking around, she sees that the crocodile did come alone and is merely trying to steal her kill. She pulls her meal away from the crocodile, and she and her cubs continue to eat.

Even though they dragged the food away, the crocodile is determined to get in on this meal. He slowly turns towards the lioness and advances his way in. The lioness stops eating, raises her head, and glares at the crocodile as if to say, “Did you not get the hint that I’m not sharing?”
The crocodile is committed to getting that meal or snatching one of those cubs. He continues forward. The lioness drags her meal backward and warns her cubs to stay behind her and not go beyond her to danger.
As the crocodile gets the closest he’s been to the lioness and her cubs, she has decided she’s had enough. She yanks back her meal several feet and tosses it. She then lunges toward the crocodile to let him know she means business. The kill is her, and her cubs are hers. The crocodile is not welcome.
Do Crocodiles Walk on Land?

Yes! This might seem foreign to some viewers as we typically think of crocodiles and alligators as animals that remain in the water or stay right on the edge of the beach line. However, crocodiles are seen walking on land.
When you see a crocodile walking on land, you will see them moving side to side with the front leg and then the hind legs, as we see in the video posted below. They will also hold themselves up high on all four legs, you won’t see them dragging themselves on land.

The crocodile will come out on land for various reasons, such as laying eggs, finding food, or laying out in the sun. And when you come face to face with a crocodile, they can not only walk, but they can run!
That’s right, you heard us correctly; crocodiles can run. They can run short distances of up to 22 miles per hour. The average human can run between 6.5 – 8 miles per hour. So, needless to say, you won’t be able to outrun a crocodile if you come into contact with one!
How long can a crocodile go without eating?

Are you ready for this? Crocodiles can go a whole year without eating! As a reptile, their cold bloodedness allows them to be able to go the entire year without eating and still be able to sustain themselves to stay alive.
When crocodiles do eat, they have a voracious appetite and seem to have no limits on what they can and will eat. Crocodiles will eat anything from fish to wild boar and even will eat their own kind in some instances!
It’s not uncommon for predators, like the crocodile in the video below, to steal food from other animals. When hungry, they have laser-like vision and do not care whether the meal was their kill.
How protective is a lioness over her cubs?

Lionesses are specifically known for their fierceness and ability to protect their cubs at all costs. A lioness and her pride will fight to the death to defend their pride and ensure their survival.
The “king of the jungle,” a male lion, is not the one who will lead a pride of lions, hunt, and protect the pride. The lioness is the one who is the leader of the pride and the one who keeps the pride together.
A lion pride can have anywhere from 3-30 lions. They hunt, eat, sleep, and live together. They are fiercely protective and know that their survival depends on numbers. And the way that those numbers are able to increase, is those cubs making it to adulthood.
