It is again very strange how the human race has converted this earth into the best place to live and the worst place for life to exist. Whereas the endowment of science has helped in making available all the physical comforts, the ever-growing greed of humans has created an unhealthy competition for taking control of the available resources.

Among all the countries, India is a unique place on this planet. It has endless features which make it different from other countries. No other country is like India. India is a country that has many exclusive titles to its credit. Everybody knows that India is the most diverse country in the world consisting of people belonging to different religions, castes, ethnicities, and communities. All this diversity and inclusiveness make India a vibrant nation.

The country is rich with cultural heritage and boasts of monuments made several centuries ago, and modern facilities that are at par with the modern world. Philostratus in his book “Life of Apollonius of Tyana” recognized the experience of Apollonius in India. He writes that “In India, I found a race of mortals living upon the earth, but not adhering it. Inhabiting cities, but not being fixed to them, possessing everything but possessed by nothing”.

Second-century Roman philosopher Arrian applauded India to be a nation of free people. He cites that he found no slaves in India at all. No Indian ever went outside his own country on a warlike expedition, so righteous, are they!

Let’s make the statistics of land available and its use, that of geographically top seven countries of the world. It is so unique that all Indians must know, acknowledge and appreciate how blessed they are. The total area of the world is 14.9 crore sq. km, and the total cultivated land is 1.73 crore sq. km which is 11.6% of the total area. India’s total land is 32.3 lakh sq. km. and cultivated land is 18.9 lakh sq. km which is almost 52% of the total land of India.

The US with 98.34 lakh sq. km of total land has 16.82 lakh sq. km as cultivated land which is just 17%. Russia with 1.71 crore sq. km has only 12.65 lakh sq. km of cultivated land which is 7.4% of it. China with 95.97 lakh sq. km has only 12.38 lakh sq. km as cultivated land, which again is just 12.9%. Brazil with 85.15 lakh sq. km has 8.05 lakh sq. km cultivated land which is 7.6%. Canada with 99.84 lakh sq km has just 5.19 lakh sq. km in the form of cultivated land which is 5.2%. Australia with 77.42 lakh sq. km has only 4.88 lakh sq. km of cultivated land with 6.3%.

So, despite India having the lowest geographical land on the list, but has the privilege to have maximum cultivated land on this planet earth.

India has the largest cattle inventory in the world as per a survey conducted in 2020, followed by Brazil and the United States. Approximately 65% of the world’s cattle are there in India only. Total cattle in the world are 98.75 çrores. India has 30.32 crores, Brazil has 24.14 crores, the US has 9.44 crores, China has 9.14 crores, EU has 8.66 crores, Argentina has 5.37 crores, Australia has 2.37 crores, Russia the largest country has only 1.84 crores, Mexico has 1.69 crores, Uruguay has 1.14 crore, Canada has 1.10 crore and New Zealand has 1.02 crore cattle.

The cow is the major chunk of this cattle inventory in India. If we look at history, cows had not only influenced our social life, rather have been the backbone of our economy. Even today if we combine the cultivated land and the inventory of cattle along with our rural population, we can create wonders. India doesn’t require mechanical and chemical inputs in agriculture.

Traditionally, what people in other country has to create and develop artificially, is available in abundance in India. Instead of depending on borrowed systems and technologies, we need to understand, believe, and depend on our strengths which are bestowed upon us by nature itself. Ours is a blessed country.

Fredrick Schlegel wrote in a letter to Tieck that India was the source of all languages, thoughts, poems and that everything came from India. Voltaire wrote, “I am convinced that everything has come down to us from the bank of the Ganges, ASTRONOMY, ASTROLOGY, and METAPHYSICS, etc. It is important to note that some 2500 years ago, Pythagoras came to the Ganges from Samos to learn Geometry. He must not have undertaken such a strange journey, had the reputation of Indian science not been long established in Europe.

Max Muller in his lectures once said, “If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of the choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered over the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions of some of them, which well deserve the attention, I should point to India. And if I were to ask myself from what literature we have been nurtured almost exclusively on the thoughts of Greeks and Romans and of the Semitic race, the Jewish, and may draw the corrective which is most wanted to make our inner life more perfect, more comprehensive, more universal, in fact, more truly human life, again I should point to India. Such is the rich heritage of India.

India was one of the richest countries till the time of British rule in the early 17th century. The art of NAVIGATION was born in the river Sindh about 6000 years ago. The word NAVIGATION is derived from the Sanskrit word NAVGAITH. Varanasi, also known as Bananas was called “The Ancient City” when Lord Buddha visited it in 500 B.C. It is the oldest, continuously inhabited city in the world.

Indians have a sense of family that is unmatched anywhere in the world. Only in this country, you can see the families with dozens of members, and still run up more tha four generations, living peacefully under one roof. Also, put together all the major religions and cultural festivals in the world, and still, you would not get close to the number of festivals that are celebrated in India alone. But where we have lost? All is not well.

We have forgotten our rich social traditions, cultural heritage, and vast knowledge. We are so privileged that everything we need, have been provided naturally, from adequate cultivated land to hospitable climate, from adequate water resources to unlimited sunshine, from long seashores to beautiful snow capped mountains and from all kind of weathers to almost all the agro-climatic zones.

We don’tneed to grow or produce and manufacture artificially. They will do more harm than good. Our rich heritage teaches us to stay connected with MOTHER NATURE. Instead of following, adopting, and imitating others, we need to believe in ourselves.
