Now life comes at us so fast, that the incident or event happened ten years back, seems to be an event happened just in the backdrop of the time lane. Now we are consuming life as well as time, instead of living or using these precious things. In the blink of an eye, change happens and opportunities come and go, and consequently, life comes upside down. Probably today, planning our life is one of the most powerful and effective tools to attain stability in life.

There is a saying “Nobody plans to fail, they simply fail to plan” or “Failing to plan is akin to planning to fail”. Planning your life is equivalent to having a road map that helps you reach your desired destination. These days there’s so much emphasis on planning that our society has become a society that is hyper enamored with planning. There’s often too much talk of growth, development, and building for the future.

But what, when things don’t work as we had planned? Our life rarely moves in a straight line. On top of it, we are worrying that the line may get erased altogether. We are always worried about the future. But what about building for the now “the present moment”? There’s always a probability of the disconnect between what we thought would happen, and what is going on. The reason is, the way we were taught to think and act works well only when the future is predictable. But it is not as true in the world as it is now. In a world, where you can no longer plan your way to success, the best way to accomplish the things you want to do is “EMBRACE UNCERTAINTY TO NAVIGATE THE UNKNOWN FUTURE”. Work in every situation, everywhere, with everyone, and for everyone.

Imagine the worst could happen, and getting motivated to be prepared for a future crisis is the only way to deal with inchoate anxiety, is to articulate it. Think of all the terrible things that could happen in life, then we will find that first, things are not so bad. In the second stage, we have no control over outside events. We can only control our reactions to them. With so much information available, we need the wisdom of experience desperately. It has to be modern as well as ancient. We may know more than the ancient’s did, but we are neither wise nor happy.

No matter how much we plan, we never know how life is going to play out with us. The only time we know about life is, only when we are in that very moment. Planning can never take us out of the present. It might help us in accomplishing future goals, but is not going to improve the quality of life for the present moment. Planning is also not going to guarantee us a desired outcome for the future. So, we must accept the series of events that come, as a reality of life, which we can never control. We can’t live in peace if we are constantly planning for the next stage, and that too in isolation. Life is short and we must accept the way it comes, and enjoy, in whatever way it is possible.

Thinking too much about the past and the future is always the only cause of stress. Even though some stresses can be beneficial, the stress caused by not living in the moment can be detrimental to one’s mental, physical, and emotional health. We must invigorate our life with present living strategies which will enable us to stay more focused on each moment. We should observe and control our mind when it begins to focus on the future instead of the present moment. We must ask ourselves if this thought process is necessary. Simple awareness and recognition of our thoughts will assist us in being more alive in the present.

Plans generally fail. In fact, as a member of flawed species, we fail much more often than we think. Failure is an integral part of life. Attempting to plan every part of life is not only impossible, but it is not healthy also. The more we plan, the more we are likely to get upset and irritated, when these plans don’t work as per our expectations. We enter into a spiral of dejection, desperation, depression, and self-destruction. We must plan, but not at the cost of losing sight of the present moment. If the plan doesn’t work out as we want, we must accept them heroically.

The moment we have right now is a precious gift. We must enjoy by relishing this very moment. We can control the moment we have right now only. We make plans, but life’s uncertainties seldom allow us to realize them. Sometimes, we have to change the course completely. In such a situation, it’s better to go with life’s flow, than to fight the inevitable. Let’s accept the present in whatever form it is. Let’s take the certain part, out of the uncertain part which is present only. Let’s live that certain part and sincerely work for the uncertain part, and not impede ourselves from experiencing contentment. Let’s practice living presently. TOO MUCH OF PLANNING IS GOING TO PREVENT US FROM THE BEAUTY OF NOW.
