Tulsi, sandalwood, jasmine, neem & Vijaya these five names are regarded with the utmost respect in one of the most revered texts of Hinduism, the Atharva Veda. Vijaya, also known as marijuana, hemp, or cannabis holds the most respected pedestal & yet is kept constantly ostracized by society as a whole.
Marijuana, once regarded as a miracle plant in Ayurveda, now faces stigmatization of being a synthetic drug, hampering the humankind to use the plant for any of its benefits.
The medicinal usage of marijuana & its components especially the cannabidiol or CBD (C21H20O2) is yet to be discovered at its full potential & attesting to recent discoveries, it certainly does more good than harm.

The evident need for CBD in medicine & market
CBD is the non-intoxicating component of marijuana or hemp plant. The moment hemp is viewed in illegal lights, the scope of its usage is automatically narrowed down to being non-existent on legal grounds whereas the studies have shown that the need for healing or stabilizing components of CBD was always there.

The component’s unavailability gave rise to a huge pharmaceutical market catering to the developments of synthetic pain killers & relievers. Hemp was not originally an alternative it, on the contrary, formed the basis of pain-relieving techniques as mentioned in Atharva & Ayurveda.
The availability of CBD as a medical component would seriously impact the health budget & services for a normal middle-class family. As it is useful in more than 100 types of pain-relieving roles, it already has a huge market as well as service potential.
The legalization of its use would put the entire pharmaceutical ecosystem at stake & that is what scares the big med companies. It is interesting to note that to date 0no deaths have been related to direct use if hemp, THC, or CBD whereas the same statement cannot be justified for traditional pain relievers.

Marijuana has been blamed for being a synthetic drug masquerading as a plant. Owing to this, its use has been banned in several countries leading to a booming black market economy. The Indian subcontinent, the place where history sings praises of this plant in particular has been very tough on possession & consumption of any component of cannabis.
As new researches are coming out related to the topic, the world is getting more & more aware of the true nature of this plant & a global movement is carried out in the background to curb the ban & to turn off the bad light focused on the plant.
Cannabidiol, uses & benefits
As widely known, cannabis is majorly made up of two components namely CBD & THC, the latter being the one responsible for giving the high effect.
CBD is established to be a negatory constituent to THC thus also negating the high effect. Along with this, it is full of medicinal properties that range from curing mental disorder to keeping cancer in check in some cases.
Here are some of the major uses of CBD:
- Anxiety relief: in an experiment performed on social anxiety, it was proven that people who consumed it were calmer & responsive-without witnessing any side effects. Multiple studies prove that it changes the way the human brain responds to serotonin, a compound heavily related to mental health. This can prove useful in curing anxiety, PTSD, insomnia & other mental health issues.

- Works against epilepsy: time & again it use has proven successful in seizure cases related to epilepsy & is found to reduce episodes.
- Pain relief: one of the most important benefits it carries is that of being a natural pain reliever. It is used in cases of arthritis, muscle pain, chronic & MS pain.
- Anti-cancer properties: the most important of all uses is still under research, but recent studies show that it can control the growth in cancer cells in some animals. & can be used as a pain reliever for cancer treatment. It might also help in reducing the growth of cancer cells which by far is something miraculous.
- Drug withdrawal: CBD primarily helps in drug withdrawal attacking tobacco & other hard drugs addiction. It also reduces the aftereffects of substance use symptoms helping in breaking the relapse cycle. Researchers support using it to reduce withdrawal symptoms.
- Alzheimer’s: it is researched that the use of CBD can enable a person suffering from this disease to recognize faces in the later stages. It also delays the onset & progress of Alzheimer’s.
- Type1 diabetes: as tested, CBD delays the onset & progression of diabetes of type 1 where the pancreas is the most affected area.
Unnecessary fear-mongering has turned cannabis a villain for years negating all its benefits. Well, it can be said that people are now waking up to see what benefit it beholds within itself.

A future with well-regulated CBD based Medicare

Ironically enough if seen from a range, the future can be easily influenced by the past of medicine & doing so will prove to be beneficial for everyone. A well-regulated market will not only create legal revenue but will also create a start-up ecosystem for the said component.
An increased amount of R&D works will be done by the existing pharma giants but monopolization of CBD is virtually impossible so that the total benefit of this miracle herb can be made available for all.
A maintained CBD or hemp-based medicare will then lower the dependency on synthetic drugs thus lowering the risks of higher addiction rate. The situation if observed is a win-win type with very limited or zero disadvantages.
The need for this regulation should be the utmost priority because this green gold has been neglected for far too long & the unprecedented amount of benefits will surely be beneficial for all of humankind.
